My Journey to Non-Toxic Skincare — And the Simple Changes That Transformed My Skin

Like most of us, my skincare journey started in my teens. I reached for whatever looked pretty and promised instant results. Cute branding, glossy packaging, and big claims. But I never thought to turn the bottle over and read the fine print.

Fast forward a few years and life had other plans. I began experiencing hormone imbalances, gut issues, and skin flare-ups that no product seemed to fix. That was the turning point, the moment I started questioning what I was actually putting on my body, not just in it.

As I began learning about the gut-to-skin connection, I realised there was no miracle cure. And so I took a holistic approach and I started cleaning up my lifestyle, paying closer attention to ingredients, and seeking out products that worked with my body rather than against it.

I’ve always loved beauty and the ritual of self-care, so I didn’t want to give that up. But I also wanted to feel confident that what I was using was truly good for me. One problem? So many brands claimed to be “natural” or “clean,” yet when I looked closer, the ingredients told a different story.
